Blogging- A Retrospective

 

The past fifteen weeks of Writ-150 have taught me that I write in an analytical style. I tend to do better on essay prompts that involve analyzing why something would be a certain problem and how to fix it. Therefore, I found the first writing essay about positive stereotypes to be the easiest. My learning style is also analytical, which is why I am interested in jobs and subjects involving the analysis of cause and effect. My blogging advice for future students is to also include in your entries what you are struggling with so that you can receive help from other students on that weakness. I wish I would have done that so I could learn to incorporate outside sources better. I might use my writing style to write lab reports and journals, as my major requires that due to its experiment heavy curriculum. Practicing how to incorporate and cite will help when incorporating evidence from previous studies or scientific journals.

    I also felt that I can do better on essay prompts! I didn't think about adding the part of what I'm struggling with which would help with blogging.

    Yeah including what you're having trouble with is a good idea for future students. I'm not sure how useful these will be in the future but for some I could see them being helpful.

                The main topic I am choosing is the Trail of Tears and other ways Native Americans were mistreated and abused by the United States for political and social gain. This is a good candidate for evaluation because the Native American treatment in schools is censored in our public education systems.       I found my sources using Proquest. I used keywords involving the words 'Native American' and 'Healthcare'. The sources that provide the underlying causes of healthcare inequity along with solutions to these inequities will be the most useful for my final paper.         I am choosing to write about Native Americans. I already know that Native Americans face inaccessible healthcare benefits due to poverty and their rural environment. I plan to research more about causes towards their healthcare inequity and more on actions being taken to alleviate this inequity.
