            The main topic I am choosing is the Trail of Tears and other ways Native Americans were mistreated and abused by the United States for political and social gain. This is a good candidate for evaluation because the Native American treatment in schools is censored in our public education systems. An example of this censorship includes teaching thanksgiving as a peaceful interaction between pilgrims and Natives, when it was a violent one.  In secondary education such as middle and high schools, Native American history as a crucial part of American origins is glossed over for more glorifying events such as the Civil war or Revolutionary War. This makes our youth grow up with the sustained picture that America had a glorious and perfect origin.

    It's a great topic to cover for this essay prompt. I think it's interesting that you talk also talk about thanksgiving which is an interesting point of view I have not considered.

    The Trail of Tears was a very important event in American history. It is definitely a very good idea to teach about it in schools. The whitewashing of Native history is a tragic event that deserves revisiting.

        I am choosing to write about Native Americans. I already know that Native Americans face inaccessible healthcare benefits due to poverty and their rural environment. I plan to research more about causes towards their healthcare inequity and more on actions being taken to alleviate this inequity.
